It's A New Season
It’s a new season, it’s a new day,’’ says one songwriter, and I couldn’t agree more! A few months ago as I bid farewell to grumpy winter and rang in blissful spring, I felt rejuvenated, awakened from my hibernation. Somewhat like the youthful crocus plant peeking her head from the ground to welcome the warmth of the majestic sun. As I paused to soak up this new burst of blessing amidst the deep blows of life, I felt grateful to be a part of this ecosystem. Like a seed sprouting new roots, I felt grateful to experience God’s goodness, and mercy once again. But, wait a minute, I can't spend too long reminiscing because hot summer is already here, so I better hurry up and soak up all the energy before fall comes and remind me that winter is coming again.
In Ecclesiastes chapter three, the poet reminds us, ‘’ There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build.’’
The truth is, many of us find ourselves in a season, whether we acknowledge it or not; whether we welcome it or not. Some of us might even be experiencing winter in summer, and spring in fall, but whatever the case may be one thing is certain, we must embrace our season. Because it's only a season. In the natural realm, seasons are caused by the earth's tilt on its axis. However, for the believer, our season is strategically configured by God. In Psalms 139: 2, David says, ‘’ thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; Thou understandest my thought afar off.’’ The writer knew that God was totally in control of his life. There was no getting around it, there was no hitchhiking, God knew his every move and his every thought. Likewise, God knows our every move, and our every thought. So whatever you are going through today just remember that it's only a season. Have a blessed day.
