Being Thankful

Someone once said, ‘’When you focus on lack you attract more lack in your life.’’ The story is told of an ant who fell in a pond and was drowning. A dove saw what was happening to the ant, broke a leaf from the tree branch, and dropped it in the water. The ant seeing the leaf floating on the water struggled unto it for safety. The leaves then floated to the side of the pond, guiding the ant safely to shore. The ant was super happy that his life was spared. Sometime after, the ant was wandering around in the forest looking for food, when he spotted a fowler getting ready to shoot the dove. The ant quickly crawled up the man’s legs and bit him so hard, he missed his target- the bird, and the dove escaped.
One moral of this story is that sometimes life has a way of repaying you for the good or bad you have done. But for the purpose of this blog, I want to focus on the ant. Think of how frightened he must have felt when he found himself struggling in the pond. I guess he must have thought that he had come to his end, and this was how he was going to die. Well, being an ant it is highly unlikely that he would have had any faith that he would be saved, or even knew what faith was. It's also amazing how the dove was standing right there at that exact moment, to see what the ant was going through and immediately spun into action.
This story reminds me very much of our heavenly Father. Many times when we are in trouble, we panic and forget that God is right there, seeing what is happening, and automatically spins into action to assist us in time of need. Just like the ant we may struggle at times, we may be faced with diverse trials and prosecutions, but like the dove, He is there to come to our help. The word of God reminds us that, ‘’The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you against the evil one ‘’(2 Thessalonians 3:3). So this morning let us be thankful for God’s mercies and faithfulness to us. Thank for journeying mercies, thank him for the food that will fill the cupboards, thank him for the spouse that is on the way, thank Him for the babies that will be born from the womb. Call those things that are not as though they are.
